An emergency light is a lighting device with a battery backup that switches on automatically when a building experiences a power outage. Batteries placed in cold environments can eventually fail or rupture. If your emergency lights or exit signs will be installed in temperatures below 20° F (-6° C), you may want to consider a cold weather option. Cold weather lights include a thermostatic battery heater which maintains the battery strength and lifespan in temperatures between -4° F (-20° C) and -40° F (-40° C) depending on the model you choose.
