An emergency light is a lighting device with a battery backup that switches on automatically when a building experiences a power outage. Batteries placed in cold environments can eventually fail or rupture. The nickel–cadmium battery is a type of rechargeable battery using nickel oxide hydroxide and metallic cadmium as electrodes. The abbreviation NiCd is derived from the chemical symbols of nickel and cadmium. NiCd batteries have a longer shelf life of around 10 years. The NiCd batteries sold on this site are High Temperature NiCds batteries with outstanding charge/discharge characteristics at both room temperature and high temperature up to 70°C (158°F).
