Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd)
The nickel–cadmium battery is a type of rechargeable battery using nickel oxide hydroxide and metallic cadmium as electrodes. The abbreviation NiCd is derived from the chemical symbols of nickel and cadmium. NiCd batteries have a longer shelf life of around 10 years. The NiCd batteries sold on this site are High Temperature NiCds batteries with outstanding charge/discharge characteristics at both room temperature and high temperature up to 70°C (158°F).

Red
Red letters are required for New York City and Chicago approved exit signs.
Green
Green letters are typically used in theater exit signs.
Damp Location

New York City Approved
New York City has very specific codes regarding emergency lighting and signage. In short New York City approved exit signs must be Red 8 inch tall letters with a 1 inch stroke (line thickness) as opposed to 6 inch tall with a 3/4 inch stroke in typical exit signs.
Recessed Mount
Recessed mounted exit signs or emergency lights offer a low-profile installation by hiding the housing, which includes the electrical components of the exit sign in the ceiling.
Edge-lit
An edge-lit exit sign or an edge-lit stairs sign is a type of sign that uses LEDs to illuminate a clear acrylic panel with the word EXIT or STAIRS printed on it. AC only exit signs do not include a battery backup or charging circuitry and are for installation and use only where emergency power is supplied from a remote or secondary AC power supply.

"Self-contained” lighting control devices are defined as discrete lighting control devices that can perform their
designed function without the requirement of being connected to additional devices.
